Muskego Dual Wrap Up

IMG_2283We had the great opportunity to break in a new pool tonight at Muskgeo. And we did a pretty good job with that with 45 season best times.  Yes 45!  It was a long meet but it was great to get a ton of swims in tonight.

Here are the coach notes from today:

  • As stated above, it was great to get so many swims in the 8 lane pool  Extra swims allowed us to measure how we have improved
  • Bus was packed! Only a couple of free seats.  Great problem to have
  • The team support and great teammate support was excellent again
  • The drum corp to start the meet was pretty cool
  • The warm up rotinue needs to change when we go to new pools so we feel comfortable in our turns.  We lacked good execution tonight in that area/
  • Starts and relay exchanges were excellent
  • Great day of rest for everyone on Friday

JV Invite Added

poolA Junior Varsity only Invite meet has been added to the schedule for Friday, October 5th in West Bend.  We attended this meet two years ago and it was a great success.  Last year there was a conflict with Homecoming Football.

The best part is that this meet is in meters, so we should know how fast we are going!!

More information on when the bus will leave and who will be swimming will be coming out next week.

2018 Week 7

IMG_2268We enter the first of two Homecoming weeks.  This week it is the KM Homecoming.  It would be at this time that the reminder would go out that participating in TP Wars would not be advantageous to your athletic career.

It is important to remember that even with school spirit being at a high level this week, we still need to get things done at practice and need to race on Thursday.  With no practice Friday, we will have a swim down before getting back on the bus on Thursday at Muskego.

Here is the schedule for this week:

  • Monday – Divers go from 3:30 to 5 PM. Core Strength from 4-5 PM. Swimmers from 5-7:00 PM.
  • Tuesday – Divers go from 3:30 to 5 PM. Core Strength from 4-5 PM. Swimmers from 5-7:00 PM.
  • Wednesday – Divers go from 3:30 to 5 PM. No Core Strength. Swimmers from 5-7:00 PM.  Team Dinner at the Pool hosted by the Gallo’s.  Two Words – Potato Bar!
  • Thursday – Road Meet at Muskego at 4:30 PM.  Bus Leaves North at 3 PM.  This is the first meet at the new pool at Muskego.
  • Friday –  Off for KM Homecoming.  Parade at 5:30
  • Saturday – Swimmers practice from 8 to 10:00 AM. Only Lanes 3, 4, 5, 6.  Lanes 1 and 2 are off this Saturday.

Arrowhead Dual Wrap Up

IMG_224825 Season Best times, 7 first place finishes including a 1-2-3 sweep in the Varsity 50 freestyle, and one school record.  All in a days work for this team.

Here are the Coaching staff notes from tonight:

  • Energy during stretching was great. Awesome seeing the fun in your faces
  • The Sprinters were fantastic today.  Everyone’s first 50 of each race was strong.  And as the meet went on we got stronger
  • The setup, clean up, and the table were fantastic once again
  • Warm ups start at 4:30.  That means getting in the wter at 4:30, not arriving at the pool at 4:30.

The picture is why the touch pad does not work in Lane 1 tonight.  There is a plan to get it fixed

Red Raider Wrap Up

IMG_222216 Season Best times, 14 individual Top 6 finishes, 5 first place finishes, 3 Meet records, 2 Relay Wins, and a Team Championship.

Here are the take aways from todays meet:

  1.  Slow start to the meet.  Looked like we were still asleep going into the 50 Freestyle.
  2.  Walls for some were better today.  Some still work.
  3.  Winning is always fun!
  4.  Everyone contributed!
  5.  We still have room for improvement.  Everyone should have recieved feedback after their swims.  Everyone that had a second swim took the coaching to get better.
  6. After the break the tempo and stroke rate increased for everyone.   Solid racing to the finish.
  7. We will start doing more pace work at practice.  Should help us with the back half of our races.
