South Side Sprints Meet Results

fullsizerenderAfter a great meet in our Senior Night on Thursday, we took a smaller group to West Allis for the 12th Annual South Side Sprints.  This meet has only a handful of traditional events and relays, but also has a 100 IM, 50 of each stroke, along with a 25 Free and a 4×25 Free Relay.

This was our first time at this meet and we are already excited to be invited back next year!

Besides setting two meet records in relay events (which were season best times for us) in traditional events, we won one another event, and placed a great number of people in the top 6 of the other individual events. We won the meet by 7.5 point over Oak Creek.

This is the same Oak Creek team that beat us earlier in the year at the Ike Invite at New Berlin Eisenhower.  Our depth, strength, and health have improved greatly since that meet.

There was a great deal of confidence shown during the meet.  Exactly what we need heading into Championship Season!

Arrowhead Results

Great way to send off the Seniors with a very spirited effort against Arrowhead tonight.

The effort and energy are what is needed for this upcoming 6 days of practice before the Conference Meet next weekend at South.  Full team effort tonight.

A quick glance shows 22 season-best times tonight and that is with the majority of people swimming their best events.

We do have some clean up to do with our  starts and turns and breakouts, but those are easily correct.  Nothing but positive things tonight.

I think this picture speaks volumes about the team and the culture we have created!

2016 Week 10

time-quotes-do-quotes-if-you-dont-have-time-to-do-it-right-when-will-you-have-time-to-do-it-overAnd we are into the home stretch.  A dual meet and Invite this week and then the Classic 8 Championship Meet is next week.

We have had three really strong weeks of dry land and practice. We are doing a good number of things correct at practice and the result is that we are performing well in our meets.

There will not be much let down this week.  We need to stay focused on all of the little things and keep the accelerator on the gas this entire week. Some of you will start tapering NEXT week.

With a bonus of getting the Friendship Box back on Thursday as well as it being our Seniors last Home Meet.  We will have a special recognition for them during the meet.

Here is the schedule for the week, and it should also be up to date on the Google Calendar as well:

  • Monday – Divers from 3:45 to 5:15PM.  Dry land from 4:15 to 5:15PM. Swimming from 5:30 to 7:30PM.
  • Tuesday – Divers from 3:45 to 5:30PM.  Dry land from 4:15 to 5:15PM. Swimming from 5:30 to 7:30PM.
  • Wednesday –Divers from 3:45 to 5:30PM.  Dry land from 4:15 to 5:15PM. Swimming from 5:30 to 7:30PM. Team Dinner at the Pool.
  • Thursday – Dual meet at home against Arrowhead.  We should be in the water at 4:30.  Meet starts at 6PM.  This is Senior Night.
  • Friday – Divers at West Allis Hale for diving in South Side Sprints.  Swimmers will swim from 4:30 to 6:30PM
  • Saturday – JV will not have practice.  Varsity will be traveling to West Allis Central for the South Side Sprints. Bus will leave at 8AM.  Meet starts at 10AM.

3 Meets in 3 Days

Emily and Anna sleeping on the bus

And the 3 meets in 3 days concludes!

We were all together on Thursday for Family Night at home and swam very well.  The racing quality was great. The attention to detail that we were showing in practice came forward and showed at the meet.

The Junior Varsity went to West Bend for a newly created JV only meet on Friday. At the meet, 21 of the 32 swims were faster than the seed time and 5 of the 6 relays went faster than the seed time. Coach Sarah took the team by bus and said “The girls seriously rocked it.  The culture of the team was great!” The team finished 4th of 7 teams.

The Varsity traveled to Cedarburg on Saturday and finished 3rd out of 9 teams. They had 22 of 32 swims being season best times with a number of them being lifetime bests. The effort and excitement were at a high level the entire three hours. There were some really positive things to be taken away today.

That is the good news.  The better news is that expectations at practice are going to increase because of the success the past three days.  The even better news, we are totally ready for it!

Muskego Results

unnamedSometimes it is hard to gauge the level of swimming we are performing at when we face a team the caliber of Muskego.  They have been a top 10, if not top 5 teams in the state for past couple of years.

What we did do last night was have 32 of the 59 swims be season best times. And this is during our high training period!

There were comments of still being really sore and muscles aching from dry land and the practices these past couple weeks.  But the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to show a little.  The calendar turns to October tomorrow, and that means just three weeks until the conference meet.
