2023 State Week

We had a great effort in Racine at Sectionals on Saturday. For the second straight season, we have increased our team point total at the meet.

We had 18 entries – 16 swimming and 2 diving. Of those 18 individual entries and 3 relay entries, we had 16 season or lifetime-best individual swims, and all 3 relays were season-best times.

The relays dropped 12.62 seconds and the individual events dropped 31.63 seconds

Sara is our state qualifier in both the 200 and 500 Freestyles Saturday at Waukesha South,

Everyone is welcome to swim this week at practice as long you are swimming and not causing a distraction to Sara. If you are not swimming, please make time to come this week to return your equipment and/or to help Coach Jordon potentially clean the pool office πŸ™‚

The schedule this week is Monday thru Thursday 5 to 7 PM and Friday will be 3:30 to 5 PM.

We are working on when the team dinner will be this week.

2023 Sectional Week

After 12 full weeks of Swimming and Diving, we have come to the Sectional Meet.

All the Doubles in August, the Saturday Mornings, the Core Workouts….it concludes this Friday and Saturday.

Taper will start this week for the swimmers. And as a reminder, Taper does not mean easy practices. It means more rest and the effort still needs to be present each day.

If you are done swimming or diving, please return your equipment to the pool. Swimmers need to bring backpacks, kickboards, and parkas. Divers, please bring back your parkas and backpacks.

Team Dinner will be Thursday Night at Wiedoff’s House – this is because KM has a home Football Game on Friday Night.

2023 Week 12

It was a great weekend of swimming and diving that included 26 of the 39 entries being lifetime or season bests. It included one school record and it also included the JV finishing in 4th place

For those that are done, you can still come to practice and swim this week as long as you are not a distraction to those that need to keep swimming.

If your season is completed, you do need to come to practice this week and drop off your backpack, parka, and kickboard. Coach Jordon will be creating some postseason surveys that will be coming out soon as well.

2023 Conference Week

We enter the Championship portion of the season this week with the Classic 8 Championship Meet at Waukesha South.

This will mark the end of the season for some of the team. The rest of the team will keep training for two weeks leading into the Sectional Qualifier.

For those that this is the last meet, taper will start later in the week

The Taper Group and Lineup will be finalized at practice on Monday. Taper group can start wearing tights on Tuesday.

Book Club will be on Monday. Should be finishing the book this week.

2023 Week 10

Two Homecomings in the Books.

Hopefully, everyone has recovered from the two long weeks and is ready to finish the season on a high note.

The weather started to change in the past couple of days, so it will be important to dress appropriately. When practice gets out tomorrow it will be in the low 40’s. Parka, winter hat, socks, and changing out of your wet suits are all strong recommendations.

We will start talking about what two events you want to swim at the conference this week. Everyone will get two individual swims. The coaches will work on the relays as well.

Picture Day is Monday. We will not have dryland because of this. Pictures will start at 4:30 PM with the individual photo and then the team photo. Must wear your team suit.

Book Club will be on Tuesday this week due to Photos on Monday.

2023 Week 8

We have the first of back-to-back Homecoming weekends.

There are a large amount of school activities going on these two weeks. And, we have a great deal of work to get done in the pool. Missing practice for Homecoming events during this critical stretch of the season will not be excused.

Sometimes you have to decide the difference between sore and actual pain. We are seeing a large number sitting out main sets. If it is just soreness, then you need to work through it to get stronger. This is how you get faster.

Two meets this week. Home on Thursday against Arrowhead and Saturday early at Greenfield. Saturday is an invite limited to 24 entries.

We will honor the 4 seniors before the meet on Thursday

Team Dinner is at the pool on Wednesday.

Book Club has Chapters 21, 22, and 23. Please make sure you are doing your reading.

2023 Week 7

We are getting into a strong rhythm of how book club, stations, and different training groups, meet, recover, and fast swimming works.

This week we need to continue that and push through to another level. A little more intensity this week.

With temperatures fluctuating daily, this would be the week to start changing out of our suits before heading home. Wearing your parka home from practice is also strongly recommended. Getting sick now will not help the conclusion of your season.

This week’s meet is at Waukesha South on Thursday. The start time is 4:30 PM with warm-ups starting at 3:30 PM.

Team Dinner this Wednesday at the pool.

Book Club meets on Monday with Chapters 18, 19, and 20.

2023 Week 6

We survived the first week of school.

We swam in our fourth meet of the season and continued to see improvements.

All things are moving in the correct direction. This week will get a bit more challenging with practice intensity getting ramped up a little bit more.

One thing that we need to do a better job of is having fuel in the tank for practice. Better eating habits and better timing of eating will make practices more successful. Pack an extra lunch if you need to. This is very important. And Saturday practices are even more critical.

Family Night is on Thursday and will be before our dual meet against Waukesha West.
